How common is it to have a questionable hen?

Our blue slate hen has been driving us crazy trying to make sure she’s a hen. Originally when we got her three months ago, (we were told she was anywhere from 6months to 8months), she was the same size as the other girls. She didn’t get a bright red head, and her snood was normal ish to what we were used to.

Well since three months, almost four, have gone by she’s not only started tower over the other two—her snood keeps growing slowly—her head is steadily getting brighter red with some blue! We 100% believe what everyone said with her being a hen on here but it is just so funny with how much it drives us crazy! Anyone else have the special hen?

Oh I remember this thread! When I first saw them I thought Tom, but everyone else said hen so I didnt say anything. I think she is most definitely a tom at this point, just a late bloomer. The head shape and structure in the original pic you posted looked like every tom I'd ever raised, but I thought maybe I was just wrong haha.

Yeah, she is a he.
BTW most of my 'hens' turn out to be toms so don't feel bad

I believe you guys are right, because I started playing gobbling noises from YouTube and right away he started strutting to our Jenny I think he might be a late bloomer due to our older hen acting like a queen bee,(who also struts when noises are played)
