How did I get a black rose combed chick from Australorp?

Has anyone heard of black combs showing up in either Australorps, Chantecler, or Wyandotte?

I let some hens hatch out a batch of mutt chicks from our flock. I got a very unique chick that is from a single red combed Australorp hen. It is solid black, has very dark black shanks, black eyes, black beak and nails, and a black rose comb with no pink at all. The only roosters I have that carry a rose comb gene are either red/black laced Wyandotte, or Partridge Chantecler.

Anyone know where this black comb gene could have come from? I'll post a picture if I can get one.

I would not see a black comb as a problem, more as a curiosity.

Vive la difference as they say......and can we have some pictures please?

Any one know the genetics of " gypsy face" like sumatras which I think this is because the body has pink/white skin. Could there be some sumatra in the Australorps from Ideal Poultry maybe? Is this sex linked or anyone know the genes for and dominance of gypsy face?

This isn't a very good view but it is all I have of the chick right now.

I don't know about the comb, but I have had black-skinned chicks result from breeding 2 yellow skinned birds together. I don't know why but it seems to pop up with certain crosses.
