How did I get a splash EE out of these?

I got a pure yellow chick who is starting to feather out as a splash out of these two parents. Can you tell me how that happened gene wise?

Also, if it turns out to be a rooster, should I keep it for breeding? I can't remember what a splash will produce.

They both have blue feathers...............

bluexblue can = splash

I imagine it will have lots of color leakage once it matures.
