How did you come up with your screen name?

Over the years I have become increasingly more radical with the health of our family. Since the birth of our daughter 2 years ago, I got even a little more radical. She has Down syndrome and if you know anything about Ds, then you know their bodies can't metabolize and/or get rid of free radicals as well as non-Ds people. Being that "going green" is the trendy thing right now, I can no longer afford eco friendly products. So I make all our cleaning products, including laundry detergent, about 75% of our "medicines" are all natural, we organic garden, and gosh, I'm just an all 'round Granola Girl! When I found I couldn't afford free range organic eggs, I started with the chickens, next up- goats and I can't wait! I have taken my domestic goddess status to a whole 'nother level. And who says SAHMs have to be frumpy? Hence the obsession with vintage clothing so I started looking the part as well! Anyway, when I treated my son's DISGUSTING skin infection at home without BigPharma antibiotics (which you MAY need at times) my DH looked at me, impressed of course, and said, "You're just a hippie chick, are'nt you?" So, it just stuck and he's finally on board full time, not just when I'm watching. Mostly, anywhere in cyberspace you see "thehippiechick" it will be me. There is a "hippiechick"-not me. I can't vouch for her lifestyle, but as for me and the rest of us here at "the commune" we continue to live life to the fullest as we become healthier more self-sufficient.
Love all you other "chicks" on the BYC forums!!

Well...I guess mine came from the fact that I started out with a small flock of 5 hens and 1 roo, but my flock (and obsession/addiction) has grown to 22 chickens, 39 in the incubator and 18+eggs coming the mail yet! People think I'm crazy for having this many chickens!

My screen name really has nothing to do with chickens:rolleyes:. I signed up before I got my girls so I didn't have a clue what it would be. So I just picked what my husband has called me for almost the 20 years (in Dec) we have been married.

I am from Bay City, MI. But, no, I do not think that I am one hot, rockin' babe. Babe is actually the name of one of my DD's dolls, one so beloved that it is still in the family.

for many, many years I've studied tribal style bellydance with my regular email addy being tribalgrl. Tribalchick (for the chickens I hope to have) just kinda fit - and it was available!

Hi my name is Trudy and I live in Arkansas. I am a long time Michigan resident who fought going south for years. My husband had a job transfer and we ended up here much to my dismay. Thought I was being a brat by telling him "if you make me move, I am going to make whatever we move to a farm" , (knowing how much he was NOT a farmer type guy, thinkiing that would stop the move ). Well we made the move and guess who is now the farmer wanna be ? Yea he loves those chickies as much as I do., We are talking about getting a couple goats now! I got my name ---- that is so easy I started with 5 fuzzy butts and it was love at first site for me, then it grew to 9 and I found the forum , my lifesaver for sure. Well now I am up to 18 chicks and tomorrow it will be 24, but I am still lovemychicks9. Trudy

"Lobzi" is a nickname from Jr HS. When I tried to use my real name to sign up for email accounts I found "Robin" in any derivation had been used. So I said to myself, "Ah, I know something no one else will have used..."

Well, I've got a neighbor who just can't tolerate a rooster crowing--even though we are in the hills on 2.5 acres. So, we decided to go with only hens and no rooster--and we are very happy with our flock of layers.

The "haven" part of my name just because I love that word and what it means. We live on a beautiful piece of property with shady oaks and a few pines, and lots of room for freeranging. The girls have it pretty darn good around here--it's a "HenHaven"!
