How Did You Discover BYC?

During a bout with insomnia, I decided to search the net for coop plans and information about various chicken breeds. Voila! BYC and Feathersite! Thanks Garm, Barry, & Rob for fun, informative websites for everyone to enjoy--even at 2am.

In 1995 our neighbors had chickens & we loved them, but they moved, we bought their house, and as soon as we did, the city changed the zoning. FF 10 Years - housing development goes in across the street, neighborhood goes to the dogs (I lived there since 1981), hubby says we have to move, I don't want to move. 2006 hubby says we are definitely moving now (the prophylactic in our mailbox pushed him over the edge) but sweetens the deal with "you can have chickens".
We moved, Jan this year I start searching the web for chicken coop plans (using Google) and find BYC. Read the Raising Chickens 101 article about 50 times, along with some books from the library, found a coop plan, hubby and his cousin got it built, chicks arrived in March!
I look at them and can't believe we actually have chickens!!! Life is good

Yahoo was the answer to my prayers at a time when I was stuck and had no idea who to ask.
I had purchased eggs "supposedly fertilised"
and needed to incubate.
Anyhow i am an insomniac I guess. Apparently us night people are called "owls" and morning people are "larks".
I get my energy at night after everyone has gone to sleep and Ive put the chookies to bed.
I can sit outside and talk to the ducks and bunnies who wander up to me in the moonlight while im having a ciggy.
Ive told everyone i know who has chickens to google backyard chickens so they can see for themselves what a wonderful site this is.
Whoever got this off the ground is an angel, "never clip your wings"!Thankyou so very much.

I have had free range chickens for years, and although I regarded them as pets with amusing little personalities, I pretty much took them for granted. Then I read Still Life with Chickens, BYC.com was mentioned, and I discovered a whole new subculture on the internet! Now I am addicted to this site! (And I have 29 2 week old cuties from MM in 2 rubbermaid "brooders" that have taken over my house!)

I *LOVE* the bumper stickers! I've ordered a 'my pet makes me breakfast' one! haha how cute!

Anywho, i discovered BYC in a panic Google search to care for a 2ish day old chick found in the garden! I dont know what i would have done without this forum - my chicky is getting so big now! You guys are awesome!

I started out at the EZBoard BYC after a friend (Robobbin) told me about it! From then on, I was hooked. We went to our first Chickenstock, and it grew from there. When this BYC started up, I came here because of the YUKU scare. Now I got to both board! Its a little confusing, but fun.

Looking for coop designs on Google and a little digging led me to this site. I've only been a member for a month but this site has already become my "MUST GO TO DAILY" site. Great people and great admins. As a computer geek I can see the amount of work that goes into keeping this site maintained.

GREAT JOB!!!! & Thank You!!!!

Hello, I found BYC several years ago when I had a sick hen and wanted to find out what was ailing her and how to treat her...

This site is very informative and helpful! I especially love the new BYC site because it is much more user friendly and much more welcoming to new users.

Great site!

Oops...I forgot to answer "how" I found BYC ~ I think I just GOOGLED the word, "chickens" or "poultry"...or maybe it was, "poultry keeping"...You know, I don't remember! Either way, glad I found it!
