It happens...although I haven't ever had that happen with any of my birds.

It happens, but hasn't happened to me yet. In laymen's terms her egg conveyor belt ran slower than anticipated and her egg shell making organs treated it as if it were normal and gave it (another) coat of shell.

I have seen this in chickens. My understanding is that another yolk is that the first egg (inside one) reverses for some reason in the oviduct and is then treated like a newly released one and given a white and shell. The sell ends up being so large because the new egg white deposited around the first egg makes it much larger.
