How did your chicken get it's name?

Hubert Cumberdale (Bantam EE) and Marjorie Fischer (Black Minorca) were named by my younger brother.
Dante Amadeus (Bantam Cochin) was named by my DH after Dante's Inferno and Mozart. I named Alice after Alice in Wonderland. I named Nugget as he was the tiniest little thing, the size of a chicken nugget, so that's where that came from. And Molly was named by my mom, her full name Molly McGee, from the song. So there ya go!

Okay well most of the flock are name, just a couple that I can't decide on aren't.

there is
Babbs- named because when we got her she had no tail or rear feathers and a shiney red behind and black feathers, my pops said she looked like a Baboon
Fluffy Butt- named because she has a really fluffy behind, more so than anyone else.
HennyPenny- because out of the fourteen girls she's the only one I have to put manually into the coop at night, I think that she really does think the sky is falling.
Colonel- beacuse he struts his stuff with pride and pushes out his chest to show off his fine feathers and takes charge of the flock like they are his comand.
Houdini- because she was the only one that could escape their new enclosure and we couldn't figure out how she did it, but mystery now solved.
Henreitta- just because it looked fitting, and now she's in charge or raising Peepers 1 and peepers2, and doing a great job.
Sam- of course because she's an EE that lays green eggs.

Queenie- the leader of the flock a BR and has the best feathers of the bunch and was also the largest.
Petie- because she was identical to Pita.

and Finally P.I.T.A (aka pain in the A**) because when we first got the flock, she was always on the nests when gathering eggs and would sqwack at me as loud as she could and was there no matter what time of the day I checked, would never want to go back to the coop at night was always underfoot on out outside deck jumping on everything and sqwacking at me. And then finally to top it off one day family was over and we were enjoying a nice outside patio dinner and conversation where out of no where she jumps onto the table and promplty walks all the way across it stepping from bowl to bowl flapping wings and making a whirl wind and then jumps down the other side and acts like no big deal. Luckly she only stepped on the bowls' rims and not the food and didn't knock over a single thing.

I was always saying she was a real p in the a and well it stuck but she improved and I felt bad calling her something like that so I shortened it to pita. Now I feel bad because she is the rooster's favorite and missing a bunch of feathers and needs an apron.

and there is Little Peepers 1 and 2 to be named when their gender is figured out once and for all. Hoping for pullet

I have 10 Cochin chicks. the only one that has a name is the oldest of them and is a roo.

the nice lady I got them from was going to pick them up as chicks and everyone scattered, except for the roo. he ran around in circles.

his name? Retard

Cogburn- silkie roo- Rooster Cogburn was the main character in an old John Wayne movie
sweet thang- OEGB self blue hen- shes the sweetest in the coop
speckles- silver sebright roo- idk my sister named him and I didn't know it till I asked what she was talking about I rarely name chickens and it drives her crazy so anytime she sees new ones she hangs a handle on them, like my BO roo she calls yellar

Our chooks name was actually Jan, (after a yellowpages ad "Not Happy Jan!!") becoz she would always tell you off when we first got her, but I didnt like her to start with, so i just called her DumbChook, it stuck now everyone calls her DumbChook

I named at least one out of each group after the person I got them from ... so far that accounts for Jean (Speckled Sussex), Delores (EE), Rachel (Buff Orpington) and Molly (Lakenvelder). Buffy is the queen bee and a good sized Buff Rock. Amelia (EE) loves to fly and still actually manages to despite a clipped wing. Lacey is a beautiful GLW. Hailey is a Golden Comet. Rosy (SLW) had just molted when I got her and she had a bright red bare butt, plus she really stinks (a rose by any other name ... yours doesn't smell like a rose either..., etc) and she has a very thorny personality. Selena is a White-Faced Black Spanish and she sings ... or rather kinda 'coos' in a higher tone than all the other girls. It's very distinctive.

I know that some are kinda obvious but they work for me.

We have a white silkie roo that we call "Billy". We bought him along with a couple hens and introduced them to the flock. Once he was turned out he never even noticed the rest of the hens but he did bolt right up to the RIR rooster we had. I just stood back to see how they were going to react and in just in a matter of minutes he had the other roo running even thou he was three times his size. Hence Billy Bad A**.... By the way he still rules the roost.

My Delaware Roo got named Eric Jr. My future son-in-law(Eric) laughs really weird, and the roo sounds JUST like him, it's the strangest thing!

Ricky and Rocky (RIR roos)

Rupert (Cuckoo Marans) and his girls Laverne and Shirley.

Obama the beautiful mutt roo, used to be President of the Silkies, as he was given to us with the Silkies, and told he is half Silkie (Yea, right!) ... BIG ...

Silver the splash Silkie roo.

Reeses the buff Silkie roo, and his 4 buff hens Pieces. Yea, my teen ager named them .... Reeses and his Pieces. LOL

Jacob will be the name for my head Delaware roo, when I decide who that is. He is Isaac's son (speckledhen's). In the Bible, Isaac's son was Jacob.

Help me out here ... I have Fern's baby. Fern is Ivy's daughter. What shall I name her?
