Aliss ATTACKED Gytha while I was soaking Gytha's feet earlier. Multiple times No, Aliss, she wasn't being insubordinate by standing in a tub of salt water while I held her there. Stinker. Brat.

They always have to get those cheap shots in, don't they? Really brave of you, Aliss.

I gave the muppets my last cucumber. Treats are a rare occurrence, with cucumber being a crowd favorite, BUT... I foolishly used the new "vegetable cage" over their usual "vegetable skewer". They took about 4 bites before leaving the cucumber to rot in the heat.

I think you can adapt, girls.

This morning so far...being 7:30am my flock has been quiet..I feel really blessed, but this peace will not last long.

Yes..finally the annoying screaming of egg laying has started.....

Now that the juvenile hawks around here are getting more serious about learning to hunt, they've been watching my girls like, well, hawks. And my girls keep separating while they forage! One will be down at the end of the driveway while a few are in the woods and another is out back of the house. SAFETY IN NUMBERS, GUYS! That is chicken rule number ONE!

We've had a few swooping hawks lately. But mostly they're just watching the chickens and going after squirrels and songbirds. Still, come on, girls! There were so many close calls last year, I do NOT need that anxiety again!

Someone decided to lay their first egg in a random spot, don't know who and it has a crack cause there is no bedding there.

One of the girls has decided to be an absolute butthole to the other chickens. Chasing them and pecking. She is also very vocal, constantly making her teenage chicken rage known with screaming.

The happy of the day, is that someone else is starting to lay and the chicken I thought might have been a secret rooster is squatting!

Some of these monsters dug around my blueberry bushes. Now have to go back and fill in with more dirt.
