How did your flock annoy you today?

I hadn't thought to isolate her. In reality, I could not bring myself to take her head. This morning, I clapped my hands when she began to screech hysterically, then she stopped for about 10 minutes. Each clap resulted in longer periods between the blood curdling screams. We will see if that corrects the behavior. If not a cardboard box is possibly in her future.

I've found generally any loudish music to make my entire flock silent no matter what, maybe it's like bees where disturbing the noise they make forces them to land?

I mean, I guess it depends on how close they are? But really, you could play it off like someone's screen door is squeaking. Lol.

Yesterday afternoon as per usual I let my flock into the general garden and 3 of the hens gang up on the oldest hen in my flock. I picked up my oldest hen to safety.

She was ruling them all, but I moved her into another flock to manage my troublemaker barred rock hen which was very successful, but she is now lost her position in the other flock.

Just when I thought that the bullying is over even just temporary, here arrived a new issue. I read somewhere that to combat this I need put the oldest hen on my lap and feed her while the other look on, this is showing to the rest of the flock that she is Queen. I don't know what else to do so I will give this a try for the rest of this week.

Letting her free-range while the others can't is also a great strategy! (and she might like that better than being stuck on your lap)

They are! When Gilbert crowed today, I knew what it was right away and rushed to him to see if he'd do it again. He did, but then didn't after I got my phone ready, of course. And since he's my first male, I don't know if they crow kind of intermittently for a little while or if he'll start to crow regularly now.

My D'uccle rooster had a louder and scratchy voice. My neighbors loved his odd crowing. We always knew it was him crowing because he sounded like he was stuck in puberty permanently unlike the Barred Rock rooster we had. Now we have Bantam Cochins who sound so much better.

I've got 2 bantam cochins, and only one is old enough to know its age, and it's a she. I'm curious to see what my other one is.

Well my boys are great gentleman and the girls hit 6 months and went broody. But for bantams they are now my favorite out of D'uccle, Silkie, and Cochins. At the rate they are multiplying due to broodiness I have a lot more cochins and cochin/silkie mixes than I want but I am here for it anyway lol.

I have one silkie that I got accidentally. I'm not necessarily opposed to them, but I thought it might be a black cochin. They had the bantams squished in a bin with New Hampshires, and it was so hard to see them at all, much less their feet. As soon as I took him out at home though, I knew I had chosen wrong, lol. I saw that 5th toe. And on one foot, his 5th toe is fused to the one next to it, but it does not seem to bother him. This is Pippin, looking mighty ragged at 4 weeks old now. I'm not sure if he's black or blue, but he's fluffy!
