How did your flock annoy you today?

It was so hot and humid yesterday that we brought them in to their basement coop. The basement coop is full of very expensive "chicken sand" to make my life 1% easier. I gave them a treat ball full of pellets to play with. They cracked the ball open like an egg (HOW?), left 10,000 pellets in the sand, and ate exactly ZERO of them.

I spent the morning picking 10,000 pellets out of sand. Because they're mini pellets and fall through the poop scoop.

Meal worm rings. Hang it up and they just peck away no clean up needed because they never turn those down.

I feel like my chickens paid you to post this. They are such bad eaters, so I'm normally very strict with treats. I'll still look into it because I'm a sucker. 😅
Mine might get a meal worm ring maybe every 2 weeks. They don't get a lot of treats but that's because mine free range and probably shouldn't/ don't need treats. Also tell your girls that I am still waiting on my payment. It hasn't arrived yet. Lol

Today I gave them their first frozen watermelon. It's very, very hot out.

These are the chickens that refuse to stand on cool bricks in a shallow pan of water. Yet the first thing they do with the watermelon is stand on top of its razor-thin edge. With their feathered feet.

It's fine. I was thinking we needed one more substrate stuck in their feathers. Why not sugar!
