How did your flock annoy you today?

Pics
I have one silkie that I got accidentally. I'm not necessarily opposed to them, but I thought it might be a black cochin. They had the bantams squished in a bin with New Hampshires, and it was so hard to see them at all, much less their feet. As soon as I took him out at home though, I knew I had chosen wrong, lol. I saw that 5th toe. And on one foot, his 5th toe is fused to the one next to it, but it does not seem to bother him. This is Pippin, looking mighty ragged at 4 weeks old now. I'm not sure if he's black or blue, but he's fluffy!
I have 1 silkie as well. Yeti is a tiny white silkie who if she is a pound I would be shocked. She is on a nest brooding her heart out on 6 eggs and somehow has a splash of poop all over her back. Also she is as brainless as a blade of grass. Not a braincell anywhere in her Tiny little brain. Poor thing. At least my cochins are smarter.

I mean, I guess it depends on how close they are? But really, you could play it off like someone's screen door is squeaking. Lol.
Sounds like an immature cockerel. I have been searching a bit. It says the noise is higher pitched on a general site.

This is what someone who has many bantams and experience wrote on a Dutch chickenforum about dUccles:
We currently have two roosters, up until last week we had three, and one crows more frequently and loudly than the other, but none as loudly as our Sussex bantam rooster we had until last year. I certainly wouldn't describe their crowing as very loud or shrill, but rather average.
Check this video of an adult out:

Also, if I'm not supposed to post outside links to content that isn't mine, I apologize!
It’s allowed to post links with video’s and photos from someone else. Photo’s often disappear after a few years if they were posted from a website, so if you can it’s better to post your own. It’s not allowed to download photos and post them again with the upload tool.

Letting her free-range while the others can't is also a great strategy! (and she might like that better than being stuck on your lap)
If it is not raining tomorrow, like you I will put music in the chicken runs and hope this will stop the screaming.....One can only hope.

I will free range my older hen by herself if it does not rain tomorrow.

Thank you for clarifying. 😊

My neighbor has brahmas, Barred Plymouth Rocks, RIRs, and a few others with plenty of BYMs in there. I stepped out to let my dogs out a bit ago, just before sunrise, and there are probably 5 or 6 crowing from over there. They all sound a little different. I'm very fortunate to live where people aren't bothered by roosters.

I wonder about Pippin's level of intelligence at times. He ran out of the brooder tent yesterday and then panicked extensively when he couldn't get back in. He just stood at the mesh window, chirping his head off. All he had to do was go a few inches to the left, to the unzipped door he had just come out. His brooder mates don't have any issues getting back in...

Yeah Yeti is like that too. Even better is her roosting bar is like 3 inches off the ground. I may trim her head poof while she is nesting just so she can see her babies. Here is hoping she is a good mom, I am enjoying the moms doing their job and not having me hand raising the chicks.

Pippin can see okay since he's still young. His poof isn't overly poofed yet, lol. I have yet to really get a picture of him that looks like he has eyes. Everything is so dark colored, he's just a black and gray fluff.

Hopefully she'll do good. I've read that silkies are usually good mothers.

Yeti is surprisingly viscous guarding her nest. It is hilarious to me but the poof needs to go so she can track her babies. She can't usually track my hand when I am checking her so yeh. I need to get a picture of her. She is adorable but not smart at all.
