How did your flock annoy you today?

Well I heard a racket and went investigating. Somebody's real cute very fluffy big dog had my Lavender Orpington pullet in his mouth. Unfortunately after chasing him off while walking around I found an olive egger pullet just laying there and while injured both were alive but within 30 minutes I lost both. :hit I also noticed today that Shirley seems to be weaning her babies. I was going to put them in with the rest of the flock tomorrow but I don't think I will just yet now. On the bright side Everybody is sticking close and mostly hanging around and inside the coop because of this morning. So maybe they will be more predator aware. This is the first time in over 2 years I have lost someone to a predator.

Oh no! I am so sorry! 😔 That is awful. Hopefully whoever owns the dog will keep it home and it was just a fluke that it got loose, not something that will become regular.

So very sorry about your losses, every once in awhile Elvis will jump the fence and I’m mostly worried about someone’s stray dog. I haven’t seen any but you never know, and my neighbor doesn’t have a fence and while her dogs are sweet three of them are puppies that don’t know any better.

I got to laugh. 9 nest boxes and they do this when all are open and unoccupied at the moment. Also a picture of Yeti and some chicks to cheer myself up.

Why do they have to step IN THE FOOD, instead of on the ENTIRE globe around it???!!!!!
🤣🤣🤦‍♀️
Even better, mine fling dirt and poo in it while eating! I'm thinking they are going through their mudpie phase, but maybe it will truly never end

At first I didn't even notice her sitting on the neck of the other hen! And the look, oh the look she gives you! :lau

Why do I always have 2-3 stragglers when I’m trying to put them up? I move to the side so they can enter the run door. I twitch they run away. I push the door to so I can keep everyone else in. Then I go to get the stragglers who then run towards the closed door. Then they panic when I move to open the door. Sigh. Finally I crack the door and end up herding/chasing them with an extendable kitty litter scoop. Every f***n time. Every single time. Without fail. Come on Fanny Lou and Simone or sometimes Buffy. I haven’t eaten you yet and I will not be doing so today. Besides Simone, Salmon Faverolles are all feathers. We both know that. 🤣View attachment 4221734

I have a short rake I use to direct the stragglers in with. Mostly so they don't make a break for the downed tree or the main yard.
