How did your flock annoy you today?

Hen wears a saddle for the first time:

"What's this thing on my back? There's something on my back!"
"There's something on her back! Everybody run!"
"What's on her back? What's on her back?"
"I don't know! Run!"
"Get away from me! There's something on your back!"
"Ack! It's on my back! What is it!"
"Run everywhere! EVERYONE RUN EVERYWHERE!"

🙄
I am dying laughing and I can picture this! 😆

How does the little one poop on the other chicks? Does Kraken jump on them or timely poo on a perch as another comes by?
Kraken is the black Americuana female who is on top- and seconds away from dropping a bomb on Stoli the basque hen.

… just don’t want her to poop on ouzo- (opal legbar female- because well- she is too pretty to catch shit)

Ah the drama. Hehe.

They’re adorable!

I’d recommend pulling the feed dish out for a few hours, so that they will pick up everything they spilled🙂

I know it isn't her, since her eggs are the largest and she lays mid-day, so I see her do it and can label her egg. However, out of 5 new laying pullets (this week), it was one of their eggs. Either way, the blood is not going to be a constant, so I could just keep the eggs until those layers are a bit older. However, I'd feel bad since I cannot finish the pullet eggs at the rate they are laid. For now, I'll just be giving eggs to those I know are okay with the potential of blood since it is harmless. However, if you know a way to teach the pusher that she is not a bulldozer, I would appreciate it. It's not just eggs, she pushes everything around and re-arranges all the bedding, soil, etc. She even scratches at water stations. I thought this was ingrained behavior I couldn't stop her from doing.
How high of a “lip” do you have along the front of the nest box? Maybe if you can add to it, making it higher, she’ll be content kicking out the bedding, but just shoving the real and fake eggs to the side. 🤷🏼

Nobody’s laid their first egg. Now I’m paranoid it won’t happen this year because days are getting shorter in the Midwest. Then Viola pecked me on my shin and Sweet Baby pecked me too. BUT I pecked Sweet Baby back. Viola was too fast. I’m going to get her eventually. 🤣🤣

Hopefully they start soon!

It's a three inch lip. I concave the bedding in their laying boxes for them, so it's an uphill roll. I can try adding to it further, but I don't have any more material from when the coop was built. Maybe I can do something with duck tape stuck to itself as a soft barrier.

This reminds me of how I let a friend hold some chicks. Now, I hadn't had a chick poop twice in 30 minutes, but both of them managed to poop on her a total of four times! I hadn't even gotten pooped on that much, she beat me! I also waited for them to poo before giving them to her :gig
