How did your flock annoy you today?

So blue egg layers can start out brown then change?
No. If the base is brown, that's the finsl color. The blue is the actual color of the shell, so if you have a green layer it might show blue if the pigment gland is acting up, or if releasing more pigment it might come out olive.

A brown layer might range from almost white to dark or speckled if the pigment gland releases too much or too little. A brown layer will never lay blue, green, or olive.

Chicken eggshells come in white, and blue.
Brown is a white egg, with a brown "coat" painted over it
Green is a blue egg with a brown coat

If you crack open an egg, and look on the inside of the shell, you'll see what color the eggshell is without the exterior pigment.
May be easier to see if you remove the membrane from the inside of the egg

None unfortunately

Just general chicken stuff. Following me when they want something, scratching around. Chickens running through leaves is somehow hilarious (I think it's the crunching sound I find comical)
I don’t get tired of that kind of cuteness. When I took some cabbage pieces out today, a couple of them were leaping straight up into the air trying to snag food out of the bowl before I could even set it down.
