How do I bathe my chickens to get rid of mites?

do you still have the link for what worked for you this sounds really promising lol and could you tell me specifically how you used it like if you diluted it or sprayed it directly on the bird. Same with my my bird went through a molt and feather just werent coming back
The directions said 1.6 oz per gallon of water. I put close to 2 oz per gallon of water. My birds are fine. Use gloves if you spray the birds and work it into their feathers. I also use poultry dust in the shavings in the nest boxes. Remember it does not kill the pests eggs so weekly repeat sprayings are essential for 3 to 4 weeks.

@AceSierra though I've never tried, I've heard of people using shampoo and soap geared towards cats and dogs, some sort of mild dermal-friendly flea or mite shampoo may do the trick
Go to your favorite pharmacy and buy the over-the-counter (OTC) treatment of head lice shampoo which contains either pyrethrins (Rid or Triple X) or permethrin (Nix). They are all effective treatment but only kill live pests, not their eggs, again repeat treatments (shampoos) are necessary.

I used permethrin 10%

Has anyone used this? I use this on my one dog as for some reason they prefer her to my 3 others. I would like to know if it's chicken safe as well.

:welcome :frow For many years I never had an issue. A couple of years ago I have my first bout with mites. I had my first flock around 50 years ago. I tried DE for awhile and the birds weren't improving. Originally I found them in one coop and then a few days later discovered them on some birds in another coop. I used to swear by DE but after that I don't anymore. If I hadn't treated the birds with something else I may have lost a few. They were starting to look pathetic and nothing I tried was working. After some research I found permethrin and gave it a try as my birds weren't improving. After treating weekly for about a month they were improving and getting their feathers back in. Since, some of my birds have had mites which I think wild birds introduce. I have treated them right away and all has been good. Also if you use one product long enough the mites can become resistant to it. I only treat when needed. Good luck and have fun...
I use permectrin 2 with the active ingredient permethrin 10% you think it would be safe to spray weekly. it says use every 14 to 17 days on the thing
