How do I connect hardware cloth to hardware cloth?

I’ve sewn together many fencing types with galvanized wire to extend them - but if I had a lot of this to do I’d say it’s an appropriate job for the hog rings

I had no idea what hog rings were, I think I'm going with them! How far apart do you space them?

Every 6 in or so.

I'm not familiar with those but they might be a good option.

I use 3/4" lath screws to attach HW cloth to wood. I use the wire that came with and held a roll of HW cloth or chicken wire together when I need to "sew" two pieces of HW cloth or chicken wire together.

I'm not sure how well it would work on hardware cloth... I'm using rabbit wire. So it makes sense to use the rabbit cage clips I guess.

Buy some tie wire and weave it through the holes on both sections as @Blue Raptor suggests. Much more secure than zip ties.
You can get various gauges of tie wire. Choose the heaviest gauge you can bend enough to do the weaving. Tie the ends off by winding around the top and bottom of the fence. A four inch overlap with two seams is standard.

Zip ties deteriorate from UV exposure and will start breaking in about five years.

3/8 inch hog rings (and their special pliers) are easier to crimp than the J clips. Both will work with 1/2" hardware cloth but neither will work with 1/4" HC.

You can find galvanized and stainless 3/8" hog rings. Galvanized is softer metal and easier to crimp. Stainless will not corrode but the galvanized will probably outlast the HC..

Personally, I'd use a curved needle and stitch it with black nylon seine twine.

How far apart are the posts for your run? We ran the 48" hardware cloth vertically with verticals 4 feet apart.

This is how we did it too on our tractor.

Otherwise, I used wire to sew in some places, or use like a zip tie in others.

Thank you all! I ended up getting these hog ring pliers (which came with 1,000 rings).
