I think my phoenix rooster has scaley leg mites (he's the only one in the flock that has it

) so i need to treat him for it.

I
would try to soak the roo's legs in soapy water (Dawn dish soap would be great). Coat the toes and legs with vaseline. The idea is that the vaseline will smother the mites. (Vegetable oil would be fine, too.) I've seen this recommended time and again....and it is inexpensive, and doesn't deal with chemicals.

Hmmm, certainly have enough of that layin' around...... I think ill try that first and then, if that dosnt work, ill use the vegtable oil/vaseline
Thanks y'all!

I just treated a flock of 50 or so and used vegetable oil. They were in very bad shape. I dipped their legs twice and it got them. I have had to treat some secondary issues and found one had them on her head...feathers and skin all sloughed off. Yuck. I would go ahead and treat them all just to be sure. It won't hurt them any. You also should dust/clean out the coop/run. I used seven.
