How do I do this??

Hey Holachicka, is the ad on CL for the eggs from a guy in Antelope named Andrew?
I think those are the only ones around our CL lately.

I have 5 dozen from him, and they are fertile and developing.
I set them the 13th.

I even explained to him how to check fertility and showed him this site.
He is a good guy to get eggs from, and they are definately good eggs!

Just make sure when you call him, tell him that you want to hatch the eggs and he now knows how to store them the correct way.
He will be more than happy to save you some hatching eggs.

My advice is to tell him to save you tomoro and the next day eggs, because he does refridgerate his eggs but will keep some out for you.
Tell him Greg gave him a big

If that aint the guy,

For the record, on day 1 of my incubation, my temps spiked to 107.
I still have good developement in all my eggs.

I dont even worry about checking any EXACT humidity, just make sure there is water in there at all times.
You can put more water in at lockdown to give it a few more points.

I know broody birds are good at incubation, but I also know for a fact that birds dont use thermos/hygros, and as such, I dont think these numbers need to be as exact as we sometimes think.
Like was said before, there are many ways to accomplish the same goal.

As long as you are within the accepted range, you should be fine.

And from my own experience, quail eggs are hardals to candle.
Try to use the eggs that have less spotting on them to candle with.

Yup! that's the same guy! Haha! He told me about you! I've been talking with him over email, he said someone had bought 5 dozen for hatching. and thanks for the pointer, I'll let him know a couple of day's in andvance and ask him to keep them out. Glad to know they're good eggs!

Ok, so now I've got my incubator up and running, and my temp swing is 98.8-102... Is this ok? If not, any advice to get my swing smaller?

That will give you an average temp of 100.5. If you want to get rid of the swing then move the thermostat closer to the heat source.

This part caught my eye. I thought they were supposed to be turned like chicken eggs....side to side. Not upside down. Did I do it wrong?

Im no expet here but, I think that you turn them just like chicken eggs and never have thje small pointy end up as if you do this you leave the air sack on the bottom of the gg and thats not good.

Thankyou!

They are to be rolled side to side--- never top to bottom.

Also for your temp swings you might try adding a heat sinc or 2--- just take an old jar and fill with water and cap off tightly--- once they heat up they will give off heat more slowly and controlled than a heat source--- there by they even out those wild swings
