x2! What health issues??? My birds eat Flock Raiser with separate oyster shell, and have for many years. Feeding cocks, chicks, cockerels, pullets, and non-laying hens a layer feed is a problem!

Think you covered it with the calcium was my thinking on it, probably missed when you stated that earlier. Lack of sufficient calcium in layers can cause internal laying issues was my point. What happens when you are reading several articles at once. I though I had read they where just feeding corn. But! You covered that so I retract my statement. =)Interesting, what kind of health issues would they get and be fatal?
A bunch of us on here feed all flock/flock raiser or starter/grower 20% protein, with oyster shell on the side. The difference is, layer has a higher calcium content which is in a separate container. The chickens eat as much as they feel needed.
