I am looking to coat my chicken tractor with a product that is for restoring old decks and fences. It's by Rust-Oleum. I made this thing mostly out of untreated lumber and want to coat it to help out last longer

it will mostly be on the outer surfaces. How can I tell if I should or not

OK so in my humble opinion if your chicken tractor is a tractor and not a coop tractor (aka a frame covered in wire that is mobilized around the yard to allow daily fresh grazing) then as long as the coating is DRY! and you dont smell fumes from it when you are 12" away, then your chickens are probably safe.

thats my opinion.

It will have a coop in the top to let them sleep in. I am building this to keep them in while I finish the coop/run. So they will sleep there for a couple of weeks. Not sure if I plan to do the inside of the coop where they will be sleeping and closed in
