How do I get my dad to get me chickens????

Heck ya'll had it easy I had to do a report, MLA style (for citation) one page (double spaced TNR font 12, with one inch margins) for each year of life the animal was expected to live (using the published average lifespan).

Included info were pros and cons, an interview with someone that's owned that animal form birth to death and how to keep it and us safe.

(Yes I tried a Tiger including the legal requirements for the pen)

I also had anther page that detailed where I expected to be when my pet died.

(away in collage, at work, at home ect)

Needles to say I never got to own a dog till now (no time, leaving for school ect).

Where will YOU be in ten years chickens can live longer but that is 'posted average'.

If you will be 'out finding a home or in a school in another town/state chickes are not a good choice.

I have the same rule for animals here, no turtles (100+ years) or parrots (80+ years). Keets and wrens are ok.

I ALSO had to purchase all equipment for the animals (before the animal ever came) set aside $100 for the vet (parents took care of the rest) and $$$ for one years supply of food (at that years prices).

----
This proved I had the knowledge and knew the training and responsibilities for taking care of that animal, also it proved I had the drive to do the work both in terms of the research and the money.

I EARNED:

Rats
Rabbits
(we already had cats so I didn't have to do the report for them)
Gerbils
hamsters
Bearded Dragon

Ferrets were vetoed and as I couldn't afford a fence for our yard so were dogs.
Snakes were not allowed for mother/grandmother's phobias.
