How do I get my hens to like me :)

What works for me is move slowly around them,
I try not to make any sudden moves some of them get freaked out
others don't seem to mind.

Mealworms......YumYum! My babies are very, very tame because I specifically got the most docile (but yet dual purpose-dominiques, GLW and SLW) peeps I could. My two older hens, were given to us. (New Hampsire Reds) The are getting more and more calm and will now allow "some" petting! They love yougurt, grated cheese and yes, meal worms! We will just go out to the henhouse and sit, watch and pet all the chickens as they come to us! It sounds crazy; but our chickens have really become quite a pasttime. My husband and I are amazed at how much we are enjoying the chickens. But, I think that the best treat is mealworms for the taming of the chickens!

I have 31 chickens in my big coop. If they hear me coming they all run to the entrance door and I can barely get in without stepping on chicken toes. Most of them don't like to be petted, but the all will eat out of my hand. The only problem with that is they sometimes assume fingers are part of the treat! Ouch!

My babies who are in the small coop don't like me much yet. The Ameraucana seem to not mind being held once I catch them. They are going to be nice tame chickens.
