Basically the tittle says it all. How do i get my Quail to hatch their eggs?

I have them outdoors, 26 about 3 to 1 Female to Male atio.

in a pretty good sized fenced area. How do i get them tp lay on the eggs and hatch them?

Thanks in advance

I'm new to all this so I may not have it all right but quails have had their brooding instinct bred out of them. I have only heard of a few that actually went broody and even then it was only for a few days. Very few have laid on their eggs till hatching.

Ain't gonna happen with Coturnix, if that's what we are talking about. Buy or build an incubator. The other option is to get yourself some broody bantam hens and see if they will hatch them. People have done that successfully.

I've had cotournix for about 2 years. I had a female get broody about 2 weeks ago. she is committed to sitting on the eggs. she has about 7 under her. they need a dark corner somewhere in their pen for them to get broody. leave the eggs for several days and they might get their instinct going. but no promises. i've had a couple others get broody, but they didn't commit. but I noticed that all the quails that got broody had their eggs in a dark corner or under a small piece of plywood I leaned on the side of the coop.

I don't have much quails, about 7 females and 2 males. I don't breed them I just have them for fun and my 3 year old kid loves eating the eggs.

by the way, if you are anywhere near tri cities WA, there is a game farm here that sell cotournix chicks for $1.00 each.
