How do i get my quail to try new things?

Whenever i put fruit in my quails pen they never try it and it just goes to waist, the only thing that they will eat is their normal feed,can anyone help?,thanks

Try using a favored food (I use hard boiled egg) and mix in small pieces of what you want them to try. Most birds are slow to try new food items. When I do try a different food I give the birds small amounts to cut down on waste. Giving the new food and waiting awhile to give their normal food might induce them to try something unfamiliar.
