How do I help my blind dog with sundown syndrome?

My dog is 13y old, blind, and I now think he has sundown syndrome. He is scared whenever he has to go in his cage, and will bark and whine, and scratch trying to get out. If you go over and talk and let him he'll calm down for as long as your there, then start back up again when you leave. He'll do this for hours sometimes. He's fine when he's outside in the daylight, but it's when it's dark he gets scared again. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can help calm him down?

Maybe a brooder light would work? I'm assuming he's reacting to the lack of warmth since he's blind. Maybe the warm light will comfort him?

For warmth, maybe a heated dog bed?

How dark is his kennel? Sometimes a dog might be blind in a way that they can see light or dark, but not actual objects. Even a nightlight might work.

Pugsabi & The Phantom advice. You could also turn a radio on for him right outside his crate. What's his size, add a stuffed animal in that he can cozy up to or even a nice cozy blanket. You could get him a "pet"

It's pretty dark in the kennel of its night and there are no lights on, but I have been using a light lately.

He's a medium sized dog.
