How do I help one remaining lonely chick?

I think I'm the one who recommended getting a gentle breed. I bought 2 easter egger chicks (sold as araucanas) that were at least a week older? than my lonely little orp and the three of them got along great. I put them together when the little orp was only 1 day old and she would follow them every where - they accepted her right off the bat.

I think this was the first day:

2 or 3 days later?

Hello again! Well, the two chicks are getting along much better. I don't know if Barred Rocks are more aggressive, I thought they were not but she's now better settled. My Jersey Giant, Parsley, has been more dominant but I think Rosemary the Barred Rock, will be the leader. They are both quiet now, and the peace remains as long as I use separate food containers. I think Rosemary being hatched at a crowded hatchery was more intense because of the stimulation there.

Don't know but the mirror trick worked while I drove out to buy Rosemary.

Does anybody have history with Barred Rocks? What kind of chicken are they??!

The only chicks I found here were older cornish crosses (3 weeks) and I didn't want those. I have 2 - 7 week old Araucanas but thought they were much too big, friendly as they are. I am going to try another serama hatch in the hopes of getting her a buddy. We'll see. We have snow coming down like crazy and power outages are going to happen. I was up from 3 to 6:30 AM keeping the bator warm with hot water bottles last night. It works but you have to pay close attention. I had Pepper's house close to the wood stove to keep warm, and her own water bottle to coze up to.
The baby pictures are so cute.

I am sure glad the chicks made peace together

I love our barred rocks, but I wouldn't say they are known as being gentle - ours are very inquisitive, bold, & friendly. As chicks, they were the ones to jump up on my shoulder everytime I would bend over in the coop. Now, as hens, they seem to be at the top of the pecking order (along with our 1 RIR), but are not overly aggressive. I'm sure your BR chick will do fine with the jersey - they both need each other and I'm sure they will bond together nicely.

edited to add:
Our barred rocks are also excellent layers - they lay most days and their eggs are HUGE.
