How do I keep chickens off the top of nest box?

Yes, what the others said. Change the slant to the board. High against the wall, low at the front, steep enough that they can't get a toe-hold.

Works for me.

If you build the top of the nesting box in 45 degree angel they will have a very hard time going on top of it and they will never roost there, I seen my chicken trying to go up there but they couldn't succeed.

Well, if he doesn't own a Sawzall reciprocating saw, this is a great excuse to go out and by a really fun tool!

I'm waiting for just such an opportunity.

Slanted board works quite well. If not mouse traps will do it.:Djavascript:insert_text('

lucky for me he is an electrician and has all kinds of tools. I'll admit they are a lot of fun.

You could also use chicken wire (or any type you have handy) instead of wood. Tack it to the front of the nests, and angle it up to the wall.
I always seem to have scraps of fence wire around that arent big enough for fences

I gave up on trying to keep them off the nest boxes. tried the slanted wood, they hung on for their dear lives. now I put more wood shavings on top and call it a day

Ihave my nestboxes built into the wall so I can get the eggs from outside the coop, when you do this there is no way for them to get on top
