How do I keep Killer Kitty from.....

[Cats Critters]

We gave up having a bird feeder to many cats
P.S. One of my cats once brought a rabbit bigger than her and it was alive but had a huge neck wound
so we let her keep it

Fatten the kitty up then she won't be able to jump fast or climb to catch the birds

Interesting thing to note. Exactly one year to the date that I found Kitty abandoned under a storage shed at work, another kitten was abandoned there. We saw a black mama cat hanging around before each kitten discovery. This second kitten was marked exactly like Kitty, only grey and white instead of black/white. I wanted to bring that one home too, but our residents (I work at a group home) spied her and decided to keep her. We had an interesting couple of months playing hide the kitty whenever our executive director would pay a visit. That kitten was also an excellent hunter from a very young age, dining mainly on bugs, moths, grasshoppers. I think it has to have something to do with their feral background. Unfortunately that kitten met an untimely death by car.

Oh it says in the rules and regulations that the "kids" can have a pet. The trouble is, the executive director and her assistant are both terrified of cats and dogs

so they refuse to actually allow one. One of the kids has a 55 gal. aquarium in the main living room and after all the fish died the asst. director said she was going to get them a turtle. I gave my boss a handout from the CDC about turtles and salmonella and put a stop to that. Really! They need a pet they can actually interact with, but it won't happen while those two are in control.

That's too bad. You would think that anyone who works in human services would understand the therapeutic benefits of critters!
At my agency we've struggled for years to be allowed to bring pets into our offices and other buildings, but the group homes are the only places admin. will allow them.
