How do I keep the water from freezing?

Does it work for outside? We get temps close to 0 at night and in the morning, so I need to make sure it doesn't freeze. Because I get out of school a 3:00.

My guess is that if you circulate and heat the water through the nipple run back to the supply it would not freeze. Although I don't know if anyone can guarantee that.

We have used a large insulated water pan about 6"high and 12"diameter for years without any problem. Insulated it with cheep stuff and Styrofoam at home on bottom and sides. We fill it with Hot water twice a day. Not burning hot! Fill once in the morning and once in the evening. We use a watering can to get the hot water from the house to the pan. Our coup is not heated but is insulated. It gets down to -20 in winter here and we have never had a problem. When its very cold it can freeze over night so make sure your out early to re fill when its very cold.

Place it in the coop.

We have to do this as we do not have electricity in or near the coups. Nothing wrong with the old fashion way. lol

I personally would just drain pipes in winter and do this or plug in a heated water if you had electricity.
