How do I line this coop?

Lots of good suggestions about how to surface your coop floor, but I just want to add how much I like the Original Chicken Man!
When I first got into chickens in 2011, I bought my first three pullets from him, and ended up spending the whole afternoon talking horses, admiring his beautiful Palomino stallion and some of the other horses being trained at his place, gossiping about local horse people we both knew, and learning a lot from him about chicken care and coop building.

I want to get into racing pigeons and one of the men who installed the coop said that the original chicken man also has pigeons! I’m going to have to pick his brain!

There are several types of Blackjack meant for various applications. The one designated Blackjack 57 is the one that I understood as being safe for use around chickens. Just make sure you allow the complete drying/curing time. I wouldn’t let them around it till it’s cured.

If you're using vinyl, I would probably add 2x4 blocking between the studs so you have a horizontal perimeter line about knee-height = flush surface to attach vinyl to and nothing can fall behind it.

If using a coating, an alternative to BlackJack (roofing) is RedGard (showers). I was going to use RedGard, but ended up just using 6 coats of paint instead since I already had it - I do deep bedding (dry)
