how do i make more of these...?

that's not what my OEGB do... i take them out all the time but i try to keep the roosters separated in the yard... but once they start fighting, they won't stop... i have to go and throw them in their own corner... that only works for 15 minutes or so... LOL... fiesty little birdies...

and that's gonna be my plan of action... time to check out the 4sale ads and feed stores... but mottles are so ugly... lol...

well, he was in a cage with a bunch of white japanese roos... 18 of them, and two of them looked like this guy... so i'll stick with japanese... i think there's a breeder of buff japanese bantams around here... i've seen them on craigslist... time to hunt him down...

yeah, but he's too big... if i were to get seramas, i would feel bad because a lot of them will come out big, and that's like going backwards here... everyone breeds to keep them small, and here comes this gigantic dude that's gonna have a bunch of tall/huge serama that no one likes... LOL... i'll go the OEGB or japanese bantam route... i really don't mind, if he's mixed or i make muts... eventually after a couple of generations, they wont be mutts anymore...

Ive noticed people like to try to put one lable on a chicken. He's a serama, no he's old english, no I say he's a jap. Has anyone considered the fact that its likely a mixed bird? hehe either way he's pretty. And the genetics suggestions that people's giving you are good suggestions from what I can tell. If I had to choose a bird to breed him with to get more of that look, I would say go with an old english in the mille fleur color variety.

I agree he looks more like a Serama. If you are wanting to breed the color and not neccessarily a pure bred, then if you can get Spangled OEGB hens, then I would you them. The chicks should be columbian based instead of duckwing based so they should look more like him instead of Spangled OEGB.

Breeding him to BBRed or Wheaten hens would give Buff Columbian colored chicks and breed those back to him, half of them would get the mottleing and look like him.

If you could find mottled or buff/ red patterned seramas, they would also work but you never really know what you will get from Seramas.

And Black tailed white or Black Tailed buffs would aslo work the same as the BBReds and Wheatens I mentioned above.

yeah i know but it helps... i know he's a mutt... but my question on the thread was what should i use to get some of him... to me he looks like an OEGB... but i'm a newb... he did strike me close to japanese... i don't have japanese, so this might be a good excuse to jump into the species... mille fluer japanese sounds cool...

i also don't want to wait for some MFOEGB's to go on sale, or hatch my own... i want chickens NOW... hahahahaha...

FIRST!!!!!!!!...

i just emailed a serama breeder... i asked if she has any giant hens, or actually, what she thinks of the entire ordeal... if she thinks i should do it, i'll get some hens off of her... i asked for giant hens... LOL... but i'm kind of leaning towards japanese... but they are hard to get around here... might have to hatch them out myself... sigh... we'll see...

thanks for all you guy's input...

OEGB = old english game bantam
