I put tomato cages cut in half, to eliminate problems with the extra height, falling over from a chicken trying to perch or snagging on my clothes..about 2 feet tall covered in poultry netting on the sides only...lemon balm and mint doing great. So far they haven't realized they can get in at the top

Another way to get those sleeping flies, shopvac them, then spray insecticide into nozzle and no flailing round in close quarters among your sleeping flock.
