How do I safely remove fire ants from my vegetable garden?

Lucky you! My chickens wont touch ants for anything. I've always worried about the amdro, maybe I wont be AS worried anymore. I've got some big nasty black ants that keep coming into my house. Wanted to throw a bit down forever now, but my chickens eat the paint flecks off the siding.... soooo.....:idunno
Do a little test. Keep the birds locked up one morning (unless they're tree sleepers like a lot of mine), put out a little Amdro, let the ants eat. The let the birds out and if they start to eat it, have some food ready to coax them back in the pen, till the ants carry it all down.

If only that worked with my girls. Once they're out they're like nope, not going back in there till I gotta lay or roost. Lol. I'd be better off just leaving them up for the morning.
