How do I shut my rooster up?

I have at least 11 Roosters, yep. They crow just because they crow. When I stay the night somewhere away from home I miss them. One day, you will too. I live where it is dark at night, no electricity and such. I can see the milkyway from my place. If I go outside with a flashlight, they will crow. Rooster on, Rooster off...lol

Good luck to you.

Ditto what Cynthia and Suzzie said.

I love the sound. But because I am concerned about neighbors perhaps not feeling the same way (even though some of their dogs bark incessantly to where I want to go live on the moon) I have an insulated coop so that any early morning crowing is barely audible, at least for the 3 seasons that windows tend to be closed.

VERY TRUE! Anyone who really loves their chickens puts up with what they know roosters do naturally (unless your worried about neighbors that is). I would totally miss my cochin crow if I never heard it again. I have four roos and each has his own crow and it's fun to listen to them battle back and forth! LOL My blue orp doesn't crow yet but soon! I can't wait to hear his first crow

Your roo crows at night? Mine did once but i had left their light on. And he hasn't crowed much since colonel sanders died. they were cock-a-doodle-doo partners. i don't know how to make them be quiet...I find mine rather comforting.

Edited because no sooner did I post, Sarge let out a big loud Cock-a-doodle-doo!!

Well since it appears this person was looking for suggestions , I have 3

ear plugs

shot gun.

Give the roo away.

As many have said roosters crow. I know how certain noises affect people differently. If the crowing is adding stress to your life , get rid of the bird, its not for you , keep the hens, they make soothing noises.

Mine is locked up till noon, and back in at dusk. So far so good. He does crow 24/7 for random of no reason. I figure till the neighbors complain all is good. I think I would be the first to stew him if I was woke up at dawn. I sure did not quit working to get up early.

i was hoping for some answers lol...i think i may have to start locking my roo in a small cage at night...ive got people complaining that he crows starting a 5:30 every morning....tho ive never heard it....i really dont want to get rid of him bc he is the star of my breeding program lol....i would insulate my coop but how much would that cost?

We had a silver laced polish rooster who crowed ALL THE TIME!!!! In ten minutes we counted 14 crows one time. It got to be we were getting annoyed just going out side. So we gave the little guy away, and I have to say we are all happy he is gone. Our other rooster, Phoebe, does crow, sometimes at nothing, but it was nothing like the other rooster. I think Top Hat crowed so much because he was roo #2 and had to state his claim.

Putting him a cage small enough that he couldn't stretch didn't help either.
