how do i trap a squirrel?

So i have a live animal trap which is for small animals and i was wondering what kinda bate do i use to trap the squirrels? I have some chicken food on the trigger plate atm but its not working.

My wife, the squirrel rehabber, says to use nuts. Peanuts or pecans are like candy to them. Take a paper plate and cut it into a small section then put a dab of peanut butter on it so you can stick the nuts to it. If you shell them the aroma will be more enticing.

She uses the Havahart-type trap in case you are wondering.

I stuck some peanut butter on some cardboard,and then sprinkled it with BOSS. I have caught squirrels in the 1089 havahart and repeating squirrel trap.

peanuts, sunflower seeds, or any type of bird seed will attract squirrels.
whatever you put in the trap it may still take a couple days for the squirrel to find it.

Corn works well also, dried on the cob or loose shelled whole corn
