How do they get meat chicks?

Pretty much that's how they did it. I have some great stats at home that show feed conversion rates from the 70's up to now and the difference is amazing! All from selectively breeding.

Indian Game (Cornish) first crosses were some of the earlier traditional meat crosses, sexlinked crosses could be done with Light Sussex, Silver Grey Dorkings etc.

nowadays I think they must be quite way down the road from a first cross. Amongst other things Indian Game/Cornish have pea combs.

Isn't sex linked dwarfism used? I know lots of research was done into this gene at one point. I think the theory was the mothers would be dw/- thus small, consumning less feed, taking less space; the fathers would be Dw+/Dw+ ....thus giving Dw+/- female offspring & Dw+/dw male offspring.
