How do ya'll come up with designs for egg carton labels?

We just have small labels with our name, address, phone number, and a "Laid on date" that we handwrite. We have a small picture on each label as well- one is a close-up of a Black Star's face, one is of one of the roos (I think DH just liked that particular picture), another is of a Marans standing up in the nest box with a still-wet egg underneath her, and another is a pic of two of the pullets sharing a nest box.

I made a card for myself and I print it on regular paper (minus the back) and then cut it out and tape in on the carton. Works great and it has all my info if they want more!

Thanks, I thought about just ordering some from them when I ordered cartons this time. But just sorta want to learn to do them myself. I feel stupid when I read some of the threads talking about computer stuff and I have no idea what they are talking about. I'm trying to see if you can teach an old dog a new trick I guess.

I thought about doing one of those contest myself except I wouldn't know anymore about how to do it than I do now.

But I guess I would have a label.

I guess I need to find one of those books like "How to do really simple stupid stuff on a computer for total idiots".

Do you have a staples, office depot by you? I am not familiar with your area at all.

I would go there and get some labels that are the size you need and that will fit in your printer. You can always use paint, or another like program in your computer already or look at the store where you get the labels. They have blank labels at www.eggcartons.com too.

Do you know how to find the programs that are on your computer already? What are you running vista, windows 7, windows xp?

Ain't none of those places like staples or office depots within an hour or more drive that I know of.
I bought some labels at wally-world that will fit the printer and even found a do-hicky that sets up the page to the right size of the stickers. I can put a picture on it, but can't change the size or dim it down for a background. And I can't figure out how to do the writing on it. I really am a computer idiot. It's not like I spent 10 minutes trying, I tried for over 10 hours off and on over a few days.

I THINK this one is running XP and I have Microsoft word, works, office, excell, front page, powerpoint, outlook express, access, adobe reader 6.0, money, office tools, accessories, and that's what pops up when I click on start, then all programs. (I think that's how to tell what's on this thing?)
I know.. I'm stupid, my kids tell me all the time. But I know how to get here to BYC and how to check my email. It's a start!
