how do you all pack eggs in a small flat rate box?

Magsrags,

Would you mind giving me the dimensions of the new flat rate box? I'd love to order some for usps.

Newspaper....the best overall impact absorber. believe me....selling/shipping fragile antiques as I have.... it is overall the best by far & the least expensive and cost saving.

I just measured it...11" x 9" X 9" Priority Flat rate.

$5.55 across the usa for 8 LARGER fowl eggs shipped priority mail to me.

Gimme a break with all this $15.00 shipping for 6 eggs. I've been there and am done with that.

Thanks Mags, and my post should have said from usps not for usps.

I wish I was a buyer for them.

The closest flat rate box in size to those dimensions is the FRB1, the regular flat rate box, which is 11" X 8.5" X 5.5"...and it is $10.35. Are you sure it was flat rate? It seems like it would have been sent regular Priority Mail (which is almost always much less expensive than going with the flat rate) if it was that cheap. $5.55 sounds right for regular (not flat rate) priority shipping for just 8 eggs, especially if they weren't going clear across the country. The #7 box, which is 12" X 12" X 8", is what I use for more than a dozen eggs...and it usually costs me between $7 & $10 (ocassionally more), depending on how many eggs I have in there and how far it is going. If I only had 8 eggs in there it might cost me less than $6. I use the FRB1 flat rate turned inside out

for less than a dozen eggs--it is the perfect size for 12 or less eggs, but it is much cheaper to not go flat rate (I can usually send 8 to 10 eggs in that size box for $6 - $7, again depending on how far it is going).

i print the zone chart for my zip and the priority price zone chart, up to zone 6 and 4 lbs it's cheaper for me to use a nonflat rate box.

it's a regular priority, wieght based. 8 eggs is about 3.5lbs stuffed good, check the top corner and you will see zone "?" , and the weight

but a good example on why it's good to always check vs. flat boxes

I ship eggs priority, but NOT flat rate priority. Shipping regular priority runs me about $5-$8 and I can use Priority boxes, just not the flat rate ones. I like buying the postage on the usps website -free DC.

My box has a weight of 1 lb. 10 oz and is 9X9X11 FLAT RATE on the box is printed. Cost printed is $5.55. I received 8 huge properly packed eggs in it just yesterday.
