How do you avoid tracking chicken poo all through your house?

We never wear shoes inside the house since our baby was born (I became really uptight :-/). It makes floor cleaning a lot easier all around. Think of all the stuff you step in throughout the day...much of it is pretty toxic stuff just walking across the street, makes chicken poop seem down right wholesome.

Yeah, I'm a Croc addict, too. One pair for outside, one pair for inside. Since I go out to the garden and in to the house frequently, I like the Crocs for quick shoe change-out. They saved my marriage, they did.

How's that for a testimonial? Now, if I can just teach the dogs to wear them

Where there is a will... There is a way. Thanks we use one of those shoe trays, in the mudroom and we live in a doublewide, so you just have to improvise.

I live in Crocs, too - I've lost count of how many pairs and colors I have (we're allowed to wear them to work, also). I even have Chicken Jibbitz in some of them! They're so great for anything outside because they wash up so easily.

But what I don't track in to the house, the 2 dogs do - so theoritically, I've only solved 20% of the problem.

I'm soooo lucky. I live on my sister and BIL's property. My little yard is fully fenced within the property but the chickens live on the other side of the fence. My sister's and my mom's houses are on the chicken side of the fence. The chickens free range all day pooping on their porches, doorsteps, sidewalks and lawns. I however get to swish off my gumboots in a big puddle just outside my gate and enter the yard pristine and poopless. My sister says one of these days she's going to let them all into my yard and lock em' in there. Oh by the way, the chickens were my idea, but they put the coop in their zone. Guess they didn't think about the poop factor. LOL. They love the eggs though.

designated coop shoes, they come off @ the door, & put in the boot tray. They go from boot tray right out the door, so no floors get stepped on w/ the coop shoes on.
I have a designated coop jacket too.....yeah I might be a little O.C.D.

Hey, I do the same thing! I even have certain gloves I wear out to the coop, as does my 16-yr.-old son who helps me. I bought rubber boots for all of us to wear out there. My coop jacket/coat is SO gross-----chicken poop and who knows what on it! I only wash it about once a month-----it'll only get dirty again!

We have an enclosed porch. Coat and boots come off on the porch. I use slip on boots for chicken chores in winter, because I usually have to get water from inside then.
