First you have to catch the attention of a Nifty administrator type. Then you have to not get banned. You probably need to be on the boards too much consistently. I would say you need to also always show wisdom in all things and be forever fair and balanced, but greyfields is a mod and he listens to Motley Crue. So that must not be a requirement
