How do you blow an egg w/out breaking it?!

I can't seem to manage to empty an egg for crafting without breaking it.
What do you use to make the holes? How big do you make them? Do you use your mouth or a syringe to get the contents out? If you use a syringe, do you pull it out or push it out?

I thought this would be the easy part of this project!

There's a good thread on this in the decorating eggs thread in hobbies.

I use a thumbtack, use a swirling motion to get into the top and bottom of the egg. I then make the top hole bigger with the tack, chipping away around the hole.

I then put the big hole down, and use an air filled 3 ml syringe with needle to slowly push air into the egg. This pushes the stuff out the bottom (big) hole. Takes about 5 min.

I saw the thread, which is what got me into this mess (and I mean MESS) in the first place!

I just didn't read all 87 pages, so I missed some of the tips. I didn't anticipate this being the difficult part of the project! I'll try it with the needle ON the syringe this time, thanks for your recommendation!

Pretty small. The bottom hole (the one I push air through) is only as big as the tack I used. I don't widen it. Because it's so small once I Mod Podge over it you can hardly see it and I don't use bottom bead caps to cover it.

The top hole is probably 3 to 4 times the width of the tack. You can kinda see it here (if you can't let me know and I'll go take another picture).

Beautiful! I actually can't see the larger hole, but your description should help. Thanks so much!
BTW: I just ran across a recommendation for the "Blas Fix Egg Blower" It's like nine bucks. Same concept as a syringe. I may give it a whirl!
