How do you control the addiction?

I'd like to get into raising them so I'm sure you'll see some around...

That would be awesome!

You are mistaken, according to THE CHICKEN MATH, your bantams only count as 0.67 chickens and anything under six months is only 0.50 chickens. I think you have room for a couple more!

I got dust all over everything in my office, 12 peeping and cheeping and hopping coming out from the brooder at all hours... 14 in the coop and doing their thing... and I have to admit, I would take on a few more.

I guess I just have better than average control. I ordered my chicks (28 of them) waited until they got in. Bought only 2 since then. Plan to sell off all but 14 of my chicks. I told myself right at the beginning that I only have coop space for 24 adult chickens and I am not going to go out and get myself any more than that. I did however bring home a tom turkey impulse buy a few weeks ago and now of course I need some hen turkeys, so I guess I still have a bit of a problem :lol

ETA: I do have 10 full grown chickens out in the coop already.

I started last summer with just a few chicks (50) from McMurry...shared some...sold some...ordered more...shared some...sold some...ordered more and did not tell anyone I had them...got ducks (8) and then 2 pair adult geese for my bd last week...one is laying and I have a friend with an empty incubator...danger! One of my hens hatched six mutt babies yesterday and perhaps the other 6 that she stole from the neighboring nest that have not hatched as of last night will hatch today or tomorrow...65 birds and I want more...is there and antidote?

Started with 13 full grown hens, just got 17 babies a couple weeks ago, and today (what has gotten into me) ordered four mille fleur juveniles, two hens and two roos.

I'm in justification mode though - I figure you can't have 29 hens and only one roo. That would kill him

So, I just had to get a couple more roos and since they are mille's they would be lonely without a couple of hens.

DH is still sleeping and doesn't know about the four new ones yet. Well, it is a better Easter gift than chocolates - isn't it???
