Why can't we delete mistakes here?

The most you can do is edit with the little red pencil and blank out what you wrote. I think the system requires something in the edited post so you can just replace the words with a period or asterisk. Or a smiley face. Whatever.

This is what happens when you ask a kid if he'd like to play an instrument in the school band, and he says yes, and wants drums, and you buy him a trumpet.
