how do you correct bad behavior with a mini donkey

Our donkey chases our goats and sometimes bites them on the back. It dosen't seem to hurt them, but he bullies them. He has been casterated. He is about 1 1/2 years old. What kind of action can we take to change his behavior?

separate, he could really injure them, if you want a guardian get a llama, more docile than a donkey

I wonder if you can do respect training with a donkey as you can with a horse?????

I have never owned a donkey so I don't know....Surely??

My father in law says tie the horse to the donkey and the donkey takes over the horse. It is more subborn than the horse it is not mean but works wonders. His other comment is be smarter then the ass, put them side by side divided fence, not trying to be a smart ass. Get them acquinted first.

we have 2 miniature donkeys, and we do not trust them to be in with the goats. Donkeys don't usually intend to hurt the goats, donkeys play hard, they play rough. they will try to play with the goats like they would a donkey, ours wrestle, bite, knock each other down, and kick each other.
your best bet would be to separate them. donkeys are better in pairs, because they love to play rough.
It would be heartbreaking if something happened to your goats.
donkeys are stubborn and have a mind of their own.
I would not put them together with goats. especially a jack.

Separate for sure. You cannot control what goes on in the herd and that is what is happening. They are working on herd order. You cannot possible be out there at all times to "work" on their manners. If the donkey is aggressive towards humans than that is another thing. I would say give it a job, but sounds like it is more of a pet than a working animal.

I have heard that the males dont do well with goats like the females. I have a male and he isnt let in with the goats as he bullies my calves...I would take him out of there and get a LGD as they do a better job protecting them ...JMO

Oh My! Mini Donkey! I have one also and he is a PILL!!! You can to a degree do some training, but it requires constant "reminders". JJ (Our mini donk) had a hard time adjusting to our dog. I put them both on lead ropes and make them walk together. Anytime someone makes an ugly face at the other - they get disciplined. Sometimes he will still try to "Bully" the dogs - He knows that if he is after one of the dogs a sharp "JJ" will quickly get his attention and he is immediately put into time out (tied to his tree). I have also noticed that if we work the horse, the donkey will immediately go after the dogs. I think it is an attention thing. The donkey is tied to his tree anytime we are working with the horse. You can train a donkey to get along, however, I would not leave him unattended with the goats. Our horse is big enough to defend himself, but the donkey still tries to challenge him. The donk is 32" and the horse is 15'2
