Yup, it doesnt sound like you CAN reason with someone like that.
Mom is always worried bout animal control coming out and the police, cuz she thinks someone will report us. Well now I called beforehand to find out the rules, and we ARE allowed hens (no roosters), and I told her, tell em to come on out. I also asked about having the chicks in the front yard when I called, and they laughed and said there was no rule against it, but not many would want them in the FRONT yard. So the only way they would take them is if they are not taken care of.
(Front yard is where all the shade and breeze is for them).
So I told her...let em come, they can see how well we take care of our baby girls, and they cant do a thing!
What I DO worry bout, is some crazy person letting them out. Its like letting a 2 year old child out to wander alone, they dont have the sense to stay in our yard or off the street and would definitely get killed. Dont know where folks that think "they should be FREE" get their attitudes.
They need to get on the battery hen bandwagon and fight for those rights before they look at the backyard folks. It would give em somethin more constructive to do.
(I didnt realize poultry werent included in the humane slaughter acts that were passed)
