How do you deal with the chicken haters?

All my family think I have way too many chickens. I am pressured all the time and feel that no one really is happy about them.

My DH tolerates the chickens. Everyone rolls their eyes whenever I get more or put more eggs in the incubator.

I have NO support for having chickens. It hurts- it really does. I just have to keep saying to myself that it really is healthier for us to be eating fresh eggs.

Ha! my sister in law thinks we are a bunch of loons because we have chickens and love living on a farm...to me it just means they are narrow minded people. I don't bother trying to explain it. They have their big city lives and we have our small town farming life.

I don't know that I have any 'haters' in my circle of friends, but I had someone tell me once (when I dyed my hair a dark shade of red) that she didn't like it--that was fine, she is certainly entitled to her opinion. But when she went on & on about it, I finally had to say something, especially since there were other people listening. I politely told her that when her opinion mattered to me, I would make sure she was the first one I called the next time I decided to make such a life-altering change...that shut her up & let the others know that I don't do what I do to please them!
Sounds like you need to take a stand & stop letting people bully you. They're YOUR chickens & it shouldn't matter what others think about it.

I laugh at anyone who's negative towards me for raising chickens. There probably just jealous that there not doing it. Like my sil that makes ignorant comments about me having chicks but then wants to bring her kids over to see them.??? Anyway my mom loves the idea of me raising chicks. She wishes she would of raised us kids raising chickens when we were younger so I'm glad that we can raise our kids like this and let my mom help out and enjoy them like she's always wanted to!!!

Yeah i have the same problem both my parents hate my chickens an tell me every chance they get that they are disgusting creatures.
mostly my mom my dad likes the eggs. but they both complain about everything. especially me incubating eggs witch is my favorite part.
personally they dont understand what my chickens mean to me to them their just nast birds an i hate to say it but if i was forced to pick
my mom or my chickens i would pick the flock their like my little people. they dont judge you they just want your friendship an care.
i swear some people just dnt get it. it would probably be better if i had friends that liked them. they dnt talk bad about them but
they have no intrest in talking about them. ive had animals since i was a young boy if people think their hurtfull comments
will get rid of them their wrong. just makes me resent them.
