How do you decide when/if you should cull a sick or injured chicken?

I posted few weeks ago about my EE not being able to walk. I took her to the vet and she's not egg bound and doesn't have any broken bones. The vet said without doing more testing it could be anything... cancer, internal organ failure, etc. She prescribed antibiotics and meds for inflammation. We'll see how my hen does on the meds but I'm having a hard time deciding when to consider culling her. She's my daughter's hen and she's very attached so it's difficult. How do you know when it's time?

Also, this hen is a good eater so she still has bright eyes and clean face. She just can't walk anymore. We've been keeping her clean and separated from the flock.

I do not cull my birds at home, and lucklily I have never had to. If you feel it is nessicary, maybe take her to the vet to euthanize?

Sorry about your hen. Considering the illness is internal, it is likely to not be curable. I'd try some of the medication, but be prepared for her to pass. I suggest giving her another week to ten days and if there's no improvement, cull her.
