How do you determine prices to ship birds?

I have been shipping a few batches of chicks and older birds but always have problems finding how much it costs to ship them which delays me a lot. Is there a rate of (for example) $4 a pound for shipping a live bird? Is there a flat rate for chicks? What about adults. I never know the price until I am at the post office about to ship them off which is a pain for me and anyone buying. Help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you use USPS approved boxes? If so then your express shipping rate for each type of box should be a flat rate.

Yes, I use the approved boxes you have in the link. Do they have the rates listed on the site? Still browsing it at the moment. Haven't found the prices yet.
