How do you enter Chickens into a Show?

Discussion in 'Managing Your Flock' started by Chicken Keith, Dec 30, 2007.

  1. I've raised chickens beginning 30 years ago (took a break from 1983 to 2007, though).

I've never showed birds at poultry show meets or state fairs.

Anybody have advice for a "beginner?" Must they be banded? Innoculated for pullorum, avian flu, etc? Appreciate the advice.

I was told to join chicken groups. Such as the APA (American Poultry Association.) You can find them on the web. I was also told they make you band the birds that go to show for idenficatation. Im learning also. Good luck. [IMG]
  3. Countrygirl, is that a BUTTERCUP pullet???? Might that be one of the breeds you raise? How do you like them? I absolutely love the fowl, GREAT layers, and the combs are so gorgeous, they're addicting to ownership.

    Tell me your Buttercup experience!
