How do you feed your Rooster(s)?

This is a somewhat local brand and they offer different formulations of organic feed. Other than chick starter they have finisher pellets which they say to feed after 8 weeks but it only has 17% protein. And they have layer feed. I would like to know what you feed so I can determine if this is similar to what I feed. Thank you!
I feed Purina Flock Raiser crumbles. Not claiming perfection, just happy medium.

I noticed with water fowl it was suggested feeding a certain higher vitamin before processing in order to help prevent bruising during transport etc.. I wonder if that has any correlation to being a "finisher".

I too have mixed feeds together to get where I wanna be as suggested by Folly's Place. :thumbsup

I like your reasoning. I am fairly new to chickens but from experience with other animals I figure higher nutrient levels are better than meeting the minimum requirements. Most of mine are about 3.5 - 4 months and I have a few that are about 9 weeks. I still feed chick starter / broiler grower crumbles. I am currently feeding Modesto Milling brand that is organic, soy and corn free, with 22% protein minimum. They say to feed this up to 9 weeks. X3 what Mary and Eggsighted4life said! I currently mix one part Modesto game bird crumbles (28% protein) with scratch and Peck layer feed (16% protein) for my quail so they have the calcium they need and also enough protein as I haven’t found a layer feed for them that has sufficient percentages of both.

@EggSighted4Life how do you feel about switching to Flock Raiser Crumbles and cold turkey removing layer from their diet? I have some molters right now. I've been feeding Nutrena Hearty Hen mixed with Purina Flock Raiser to my girls and the guys get Nutrena All Flock mixed with Purina Flock Raiser. I could be wrong but I've noticed a difference in the Nutrena feeds. I make a mash for each flock at night and the water that comes off of the Nutrena feed is much darker than all the months before. Plus, all of my birds are scratching out the Nutrena in search of Purina Flock Raiser. I mix in Nutrena because it's pellets and WAS helping to cut wasting, plus I feel more comfortable when my layers are getting layer feed. They all seem to be turning their beaks up at it now. I have one hen that is notorious for laying soft shelled eggs and very porous eggs. The layer feed and oyster shell hasn't helped though. I wish I could just give her calcium citrate all the time but I'm sure that's not ok

I make my feed and have oyster shells and egg shells on the side i wash and crush my chicken egg shells and mix them in with the oyster shells I have a very mixed flock and coops my main coop has 8roo's 39hens 8ducks 5guineas 7bunnies and I just integrated 20pullets from the 36 in my outside brooder into my main coop and I put the 23pullets from the inside brooder to the outside brooder then I have a batchler coop for rescued/rehomed roosters there is 12roosters in residents in there and I have 207quail 25-30roos the rest are hens the batchler coop and the quails get extra protein then when it starts to get cold i will double everyone's protein and increase calories by half so they stay fat and happy all winter long
